Four tips for dealing with concrete pump pipe blockage revealed
February 17, 2024
1、If the pressure gauge readings suddenly increase, they should immediately counter-pump 2-3 strokes before continuing to pump to exclude any blockages. Concrete pump operators should always concentrate and pay attention to the pumping pressure gauge readings. If the pump has been operated for several cycles and the blockage is still not removed, it should be promptly cleaned to prevent the blockage from becoming more serious.
2、 Proper selection of pumping speed is critical. The operator should not just pump at high speed. Due to the large pipe resistance during pumping, low-speed pumping is recommended. Normal pumping can have an appropriate increase in speed. When there are signs of pipe blocking, low-speed pumping should be used to reduce the occurrence of blockages.
3、 Proper control of the amount of residual material is important. When pumping, the operator must always monitor the hopper to ensure that the residual material level does not fall below the mixing shaft. If the residual material level is too low, air can be easily sucked in, leading to pipe blockages. The material in the hopper should not be piled up too high and should be kept below the guardrail to allow for timely cleaning of coarse and oversized aggregates.
4、Additionally, improper measures should not be taken if the concrete slump is too small. If the concrete slump in the bucket is too small to be pumped, it should be released from the bottom of the hopper. Forcing the concrete to be conveyed and pumped can easily cause pipe blockage.
